Dwell: DIY Envelope Back Pillows

Since moving into my new place, I have enjoyed creating my new “home”.

The quickest way to personalize a room is through sofa pillows.  Your living room is a place to entertain and have fun conversation pieces.

Here is a step by step guide to personalizing pillows.  I hope to start making and sharing DIY videos soon.

  1. Measure dimensions of your pillow.  Add 1″ to the height and multiply the length by 2, then add 6″  i.e. (18″ x 18″ pillow requires 19″ x 42″ fabric).
  2. Place rectangle right-side down and press 1/2″.  Fold over and  press another 1/2″.  Stitch 1/4″ from inner fold.
  3. Overlap right and left edges by 4″(right sides together).  Measure the square to make sure it matches your pillow dimensions.
  4. Sew the top and bottom  edges with 1/2″ seam allowance. Press.  Turn your pillowcase right side out.
  5. Insert pillow.

How did this work out for you?  It took me a little over an hour to complete.
